Tablet PCs have pretty much killed the market for netbooks and this is hurting Acer which dominated that market.
The company is now rumored to be working on their second generation Chromebooks which would become their focal point now that netbooks are no longer in high demand.
Acer is planning to run an extensive marketing campaign for their second generation Chrome OS based netbooks against the upcoming Windows RT based Tablet PCs.
There are also reports that Lenovo too has shown interest in launching their own Chrome OS based tablets.
Windows RT is Microsoft’s operating system for Tablet PCs. It does not support regular Windows app which makes it very vulnerable to products like Chromebooks.
