Amazon has claimed in a statement that their Kindle Fire has a 22% share in the US tablet pc market.

The company admitted that the tablet is sold out and new units are not available currently.

Amazon is holding a media event next week where they are expected to launch the second generation Kindle Fire.

Remains to be seen if they are going to sell the older model at cheaper prices or just move on to the next model.
