AOL: We are not killing AIM

AOL has been reportedly killing a lot of jobs in their AIM division. This led to rumors that the company might be close to shutting down the instant messaging platform.

AOL has however clarified that they have no plans to close AIM platform. AOL said:

We are not killing instant messenger. We’ll continue to support it and evolve the product.

AOL already offers interoperability between AIM and Google Talk which allow users of either network to communicate with each other.
