With the holiday season coming up in the US market, Apple is expected to announce the much awaited iPad Mini edition this month.

Sources say that the company could hold the launch event on October 10 and the device could go on sale from later this month.

If these reports are true, Apple would be going against their own claims that 7 inch is not a good size for a Tablet PC.

The company the same with the iPhone 5 when they launched it with a 4 inch display. They had earlier claimed that 3.5 inches was the perfect size for a smartphone.

In any case, Apple iPad Mini would go against a range of Android tablets with a similar display size. Amazon has their Kindle Fire, Google has their Nexus 7 and there are tons of other products from Samsung etc.
