Online sources are reporting that Apple is offering a free upgrade to OS X Snow Leopard to users who are still stuck on an older OS X edition but are subscribed to MobileMe platform.
This offer seems to be targeted at the users of OS X Leopard. The idea is to get these people to switch to Snow Leopard for free so that they can then upgrade to Lion by paying for it on the Mac App Store.
Apple is replacing MobileMe with iCloud which is only compatible with Lion. So, these users would have to find a way to get on the iCloud bandwagon to continue receiving the services from the company.
The problem for some consumers would be that Lion might not support their aging Apple hardware. Apple cannot do much about these customers though.
