Online sources are reporting that Apple has decided to kill their Ping social networking platform.

Ping was launched back in 2010 as an integrated part of Apple iTunes. It was focused on music and had official profiles from some of the most popular artists in the world.

However, Ping has largely been a failure with most iTunes users ignoring it. The focus was too much on paid offerings which meant that a lot of users found no use for it.

Apple is likely to remove Ping from iTunes in a future update.
