Online sources are reporting that Apple is shipping the latest generation iPad 2 and Apple TV with a dual core processor.
The chip being used in these two products are based on the 32nm process which is more efficient.
Experts believe that the company is using processors that had defects at the time of manufacturing in one of the cores. So, they just disabled the faulty core and are using the chips to avoid wastage.
It is not clear if this would result in an improved battery life in the latest units of iPad 2 that are being sold in the market considering the processor would still be running more efficiently.
