Asus did not license Transformer brand from Hasbro!
Hasbro has finally filed a lawsuit against Acer for using Transformer brand for their products.
We have always assumed that Asus had licensed the user of this keyword for their products but apparently we were wrong.
Asus is using Transformer brand for Android based Tablets. The latest one is named Transformer Prime which is again something a lot of people would associate with Transformers comic and movie series.
Hasbro spoke about the lawsuit: “Hasbro continues to aggressively protect its brands and products and the specific actions we are taking today against Asus underscores yet again Hasbro’s willingness to pursue companies who misappropriate our intellectual property for their own financial gain.”
We are not sure why they took so long to file this lawsuit! Maybe the latest model Transformer Prime was simply too much for them to ignore.
