Research in Motion recently had to change the name of their next generation mobile OS from BBX to Blackberry 10.

The company is again in legal trouble over another trademark infringement issue. This time for their massively popular BBM service.

Research in Motion now sued for BBM trademark

BBM Canada is a Canada based broadcast company that has been using the BBM branding for decades.

This company claims that they have been in talks with RIM over this issue for a while now and they are not getting a positive response. They are even ready to change their company name provided RIM pays for the entire exercise.

BBM CEO Jim MacLeod added: “I find it kind of amazing that this wouldn’t have been thought about before they decided to use the name — the same thing goes for BBX.”

It would be interesting to see if RIM loses this one too in courts and are forced to stop using the BBM branding for Blackberry Messenger service.
