Bajaj Auto to stop manufacturing scooters
Bajaj Auto has revealed that they are going to exit the scooters market as they plan to concentrate on their bikes model.
The company was once the dominating scooter manufacturer in India. Bajaj Chetak branded scooters are still seen on Indian roads.
Bajaj said: “This is a definite watershed moment, because it’s almost like detaching ourselves from what constitutes middle class India, and the set of values that constituted middle class India.”
Bajaj has been struggling to compete in the scooters market ever since Honda started dominating this segment.
They are now focusing on taking on Hero Honda which is currently the largest bike manufacturer in the domestic market.
