Microsoft sued for trademark infringement over Bing
Microsoft launched their new search engine with a brand new name Bing earlier this year.
The company has been sued for using the Bing name by a small St. Louis based company.
This new lawsuit was filed by Bing! Information Design earlier this month in the Circuit Court of the City of St. Louis.
The company is alleging ‘trademark infringement, unfair competition, and tortious interference with business expectancy’ in this lawsuit against the software giant.
Microsoft had this to say on this lawsuit: “We believe this suit to be without merit and we do not believe there is any confusion in the marketplace with regard to the complainant’s offerings and Microsoft’s Bing. We have not been served with a complaint, but are aware of the suit based on media reports. We respect trademarks and other people’s intellectual property, and look forward to the next steps in the judicial process.”
