U.S. Department of Interior adopts Google Apps

Microsoft has lost U.S. Department of Interior to Google for email and collaboration services contract.

U.S. Department of Interior had originally awarded the contract to Microsoft but Google sued them claiming that their offering was not given a fair chance.

The lawsuit was settled recently and looks like Google did end up offering a better package to them.

U.S. Department of Interior revealed that the contract is going to cost them around $34.9 million over seven years. This is reportedly lower than what they were originally going to pay Microsoft for their services.
