OpenDNS has launched a brand new service named DNSCrypt in preview for the users of Mac OS X platform.

The company said that this service would ensure that the DNS connections from your machine to their servers would be fully secured.

The idea is to prevent eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle attacks by converting regular DNS traffic into encrypted DNS traffic.

This sounds like a very good idea and if implemented well can enhance the security of your internet connectivity massively.

OpenDNS added:

DNSCrypt has the potential to be the most impactful advancement in Internet security since SSL, significantly improving every single Internet user’s online security and privacy.

The company aims to release a Windows edition of this app in the near future. For now, Mac users can test it out.
