Facebook default email address changing causing nightmare for smartphone users
Facebook recently switched all their users to @facebook.com email address on their user profiles.
This action seemed like an annoyance at first. People who were bothered about that change had to revert back manually to their choice of email address.
However, we are now finding out the side effects of this change. Facebook mobile app on iOS devices syncs the user details with the phone’s address book.
As a result, millions of contacts on iOS devices now have Facebook email address as their default address.
And if you are not careful enough to check the email address while sending emails through your iOS devices, you could probably be sending emails to their Facebook account instead of proper channels.
CNet has reported that a lot of people are affected by this change and the only option for them is to fix the email address of all their Facebook contacts manually.
This problem is not affecting most of the Android users as Google blocked syncing with the Facebook app because of their policy to block users from exporting their contacts email addresses.
