Facebook Exchange would allow advertisers target users based on activity on third party sites
Facebook is close to launching a new advertising platform named Facebook Exchange.
Facebook Exchange would let advertisers bid in real-time to show relevant ads to users on the Facebook network.
These ads would be based on user activity on third party sites and would be powered with a special cookie.
The idea is to monitor sites visited by a Facebook user in the recent past and show relevant ads based on that.
This should allow Facebook to show ads based on what user is looking for on the web instead of his personal profile.
Google and other advertising companies already use this kind of technology for showing their ads.
This could be the first step towards Facebook launching an advertising platform for third party sites!
