Facebook product manager Sam Lessin has revealed that they are going to start public launch of their Timeline feature with New Zealand first.

He spoke about the reasons behind picking this country for the launch: “We chose New Zealand to be first - and I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this - primarily because it is an English-speaking country. It’s far away from our data centres, so we can monitor speed and performance.”

Lessin added that they have not decided on a schedule for a broader rollout.

Facebook Timeline was revealed weeks ago though the company has been delaying the public launch since then.

It is one of the most comprehensive update to the user’s newsfeed since the origin of the service platform. And they want to make sure that they get the launch right.
