Gmail can now search through file attachments!

Gmail is apparently indexing content inside attachments!

GOS Blog has just posted about a major update in the Gmail search engine technology.

Apparently Google has started indexing content inside file attachments in the user’s folders.

I cannot replicate this test on my own account but it seems to be working for Alex.

Google already index content inside files on their regular search engine. They do this for files stored on Google Drive as well. In fact, they use Goggles technology to index images as well!

I hope they bring the same technology to index files in the user’s Gmail box. At least as an optional Labs feature!
