Gmail can now become default email client through Google Chrome

Google has announced that Google Chrome is going to use a HTML5 technology to confirm if you want to make Gmail your default email client.

This has been possible using manual tinkering for a while now. Chrome would now process the request automatically.

Similar features are also available in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera Browser using different techniques.

Google said:

Starting today, thanks to the magic of HTML5 things are getting simpler. Now, when you go to Gmail in Chrome, you will be asked if you want Gmail to open all email links. Say yes, and clicking on email links in any application on your computer will open a fresh Gmail compose window.
