Google has made it official. Android Market has now sold more than 10 billion app downloads.

We have already seen their celebratory offer. 10 premium apps are being offered at massive discounts right now.

Google adds that they are now seeing around 1 billion app downloads every month! It originally took them 20 months to reach the first billion.

Google added that they are currently activating more than 500,000 Android based devices on a daily basis and the growth is expected to continue in the future.

It is however still trailing the Apple App Store which is nearing the 20 billion apps download milestone. Google would catch up with it in a year or so at current growth levels.
