Google to let you block ads that follow you around the web!

One of the major issues with Google’s remarking and interest based ads is that they follow you around the web.

These ads are not connected to the content on the page but are shown repeatedly to you no matter what kind of web page you are accessing at the moment.

This has been an annoying behavior as you end up seeing the same ad flashed on your display for a long period of time.

Google has realized that this is a problem and they would soon let you stop such ads from following you.

They are rolling out an update that would add an X button to these ads. You would be able to click on this button to stop them from following you.

The muting is not a 100% guarantee you won’t see that ad again — for example, the same ad could be shown by a different ad company, or the marketer could run a separate campaign targeting specific web content. But we believe it’s an early step in the right direction of giving users control over ads, while helping marketers and websites deliver ads that perform better.
