Google Chrome 16 launches with multi-user profile support
Google has launched a brand new version of Chrome with a major feature update.
Google Chrome 16 is now available in the stable channel.
Multiple users can now use the same copy of Chrome with their own personal settings stored in the cloud.
Chrome has offered this feature for a while now but this edition makes it easy with user interface updates and access.
If you use the Sync feature provided by Chrome, it saves all your personal data like ‘favorite bookmarks, apps, extensions, history, and other settings’ in your Google account online. This data can be synced with multiple installations of Chrome on multiple computers.
Google however warns:
Keep in mind that adding new users to Chrome isn’t intended to secure your data against other people using your computer, since it just takes a few clicks to switch between users. We’re providing this functionality as a quick and simple user interface convenience for people who are already sharing Chrome on the same computer today. To truly protect your data from being seen by others, please use the built-in user accounts on your operating system of choice.
