François Beaufort has found another small enhancement in the latest builds of Chrome.
The browser would alert user if it was not able to update itself because of any reason.
The message would be shown if the version installed is more than 1 version behind the latest release from the company.
This applies to Google Chrome only as Chromium does not get automated updates.
There are some conditions highlighted by Beaufort. The feature only works if:
- on Windows if there are no policies preventing auto-update
- on MacOS if Google Updater (aka Keystone) is installed
- on Linux
