Google to Chrome apps developers: Use inline installation to boost user base
Google has reminded the developers of Chrome web apps that they can use the recently launched inline installation feature to make it easier for people to install their apps.
Inline installation feature allows the developers to make it easy for the visitors to their own websites to install the apps.
Users are no longer sent to Google Chrome Web Store for installation. The installation takes place on the developer’s own website.
Google said:
With inline installation, you can allow Chrome users who visit your web site to install your apps and extensions directly without requiring them to visit the Chrome Web Store. This creates a smoother experience for your users as it eliminates an extra step where potential users could drop off.
Evernote and Rovio are some of the developers who are already using this functionality and seeing improved user base for their Chrome apps.
