Google has announced that they are in the process of shutting down their Music download service in the Chinese market.

This service exclusively available to web users in China. It provided users access to free licensed music. It was supported online advertising.

The project was aimed to boost the popularity of legally downloaded music to lure web users away from pirated downloads.

Google said that the service did not work as well as they had imagined so they are going to focus in this market on other areas.

Looks like the revenues from the platform were not enough to compensate the content providers.
