Google has updated their Hotel Finder service with a new functionality that lets you search for hotels based on distance from public transportation.

This feature lets you shortlist hotels based on three parameters:

Hotels in selected area: This is a pretty nifty feature as you can draw an area on the map and Google would show hotels inside that area.

Hotels by travel time: You can set the estimated travel time from public transportation and Google would show hotels in the region.

Hotels in popular areas: This one is obvious. If you are traveling for fun, this option would come handy.

To try it out, simply go to Hotel Finder, search for a city or a point of interest and select “Hotels by travel time”. Keep in mind that Hotel Finder and ‘Hotels by travel time’ are experimental and filtering by transit time is only available in cities where we have partnered with local transit agencies to integrate their data into Google Maps. We’d love to hear what you think: just click the “Send Feedback” link in the right-hand corner of Hotel Finder.

Google Hotel Finder is currently restricted to a limited number of cities around the world.
