Google killing iGoogle, Google Mini, Google Talk Chatback and more this year
Google has announced some more apps and services that would be killed in the near future as part of their spring cleaning initiative.
Google has been killing a lot of services that are not used by majority of their customers to focus on things that they consider are more important.
The latest spring cleaning initiative would result in demise of these services:
Google Video: They already have YouTube.
Google Mini: Google recommends switching to Google Search Appliance, Google Site Search or Google Commerce Search.
iGoogle: It would be shut down in November next year.
Google Talk Chatback: Meebo Bar is the recommended alternative.
Symbian Search App: Google recommends using their web search.
Google spoke about the decision:
Closing products always involves tough choices, but we do think very hard about each decision and its implications for our users. Streamlining our services enables us to focus on creating beautiful technology that will improve people’s lives.
