Google Maps for Android gets biking navigation in 12 countries

Google is rolling out another major update on their maps platform for Android devices.

Google Maps for Android now feature biking navigation support in 12 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA and Canada.

The company said:

That’s why today we’re bringing mobile biking directions and navigation to the 10 countries where we launched desktop biking directions last month (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK). Plus, we’re adding turn-by-turn, voice-guided biking navigation to Google Maps Navigation (beta) in every country with biking directions.

Google claims that they have around 330,000 miles of biking navigation data available through Maps platform all available for free. Google already allow web users to submit more data through their Google Map Maker platform.
