Google Maps gets an unofficial version for webOS users

Jan Herman has released a mapping app for the webOS users powered by Google APIs.

The problem is that he has named this app Google Maps which is not going to make the search engine giant happy.

We expect him to rename the app in the coming days but for now, you can get it from here.

The app is designed to replace the aging mapping app from Google itself. HP’s own mapping app is powered using Bing platform which is also not very good.

Herman spoke about his own app:

This application is trying to be a replacement of unsupported Google Maps application for WebOS devices. The application is based on the Google API V3. Development goal is to get all the features available in API on our WebOS devices and a little more, while maintaining compatibility to the oldest devices with WebOS 1.4.5 up to the newest devices like HP Touchpad.
