Google Music finally allows you to download songs from your own account!

Google Music has been with us for a while now. And Google has just added an important functionality that has been missing from it.

Google Music offers a digital locker where you can upload your existing music library which is then made available from any device connected to the web.

You can stream music from your desktop browser or your Android phone. It also works from mobile browsers on most smartphones.

But Google did not offer any way to download the song file from your digital locker. Once it was up, it was just available for streaming.

That has changed now as Google has added the download option on the web interface.

You can now download your own uploaded files in addition to your purchased songs.

There are a couple of limitations though:

Purchased music files can only be downloaded two times from the web interface. You can use the Google Music Manager to download it anytime.

Download option is only available if you have used the Google Music Manager to upload some songs.

Downloaded files would be available as 320kbps MP3 files. So, you would lose the higher quality FLAC files that you might have uploaded from your own computer.
