Google launched a brand new Nexus branded device today. They call it Nexus Q.
Google Nexus Q is a rather crippled device as it requires you to control it through an Android smartphone or tablet. And Google has priced it badly at USD 299 which makes it a tough sale for the company.
The device has a pretty unique design and is designed to let you play music and video content through speakers or television set while you supply the content using your Android device.
It is fairly limited in feature as the content is delivered from the cloud and Google Play is currently the only major source. The cool thing is that it is not limited to just one Google account. Multiple users can supply their own content that is streamed through the device.
Google spoke about the Nexus Q:
Nexus Q streams your favorite entertainment directly from the cloud to your living room. Just use the Google Play and YouTube apps on your Android phone or tablet to surf an ocean of music, TV, movies and music, and Nexus Q will play it all on the biggest speakers and screen in the house. There are no downloads, no syncing, no running out of space. Just the stuff you love — at home and out loud.
