Google and Opera have extended their collaboration. Google Search would remain the default search engine in various Opera Browsers for another two years.

Opera incidentally uses Bing as the search engine on their Speed Dial page. I assume they have a deal with Microsoft for this.
Such deals do not however block users from changing the search engine to another service if they so desire.
This extension is on a short term basis and is applicable till August 1, 2014. Opera has a miniscule market share in the desktop segment but their Opera Mobile and Opera Mini browsers are massively popular on mobile phones.
