Google replacing +1 button from search results with share button

Google recently replaced the Google +1 button on YouTube web pages with the share button.

A similar change is now being implemented on the Google Search result pages for English language searches.

Users would get the ability to share a search result that they like. Google +1 button would be replaced with the share button that posts the link on Google Plus.

I am not happy with this update. I already have the ability to share a web page from the +1 button. I do not always like to share a web page I like. I give them +1 and these are automatically recommended to my followers on Google+ when they conduct relevant searches.

I understand Google wants more sharing on Google Plus network but this is simply not the best way to do it. Google +1 button was designed for a reason. Google is ignoring that reason.
