BBC has reported that Google would establish their first data center in Latin American region in Chile.
This new project is expected to see an investment of around USD 150 million and would have 20 employees.
The company has indicated that Chile suited their needs because of infrastructure and available workforce.
Google said:
Chile… fosters an atmosphere of innovation, and in recent years has developed cutting edge policies and programs that encourage the growth of the internet. As with all of our facilities around the world, we chose Quilicura, Chile, following a thorough and rigorous site selection process, taking many technical and other considerations into account including location, infrastructure, workforce, reasonable business regulations and cost.
