Google starts cleaning up the mess at Motorola Mobility

Google recent acquired Motorola Mobility largely for their patents. The company has now started working on cleaning the mess at the company.

Google announced that they are laying off around 20% of the total workforce at Motorola Mobility.

In addition, they are also closing around a third of their 94 offices located around the world.

Both the steps are being taken to cut the costs of operations at Motorola. They have been making losses for a while now.

Motorola has also been struggling in the mobile market. Apple and Samsung have taken most of the smartphone market. Budget segment market has simply too many players.

Remains to be seen what Google has planned for Motorola’s smartphone division. Whether they would switch to budget segment devices or would offer devices for all the segments of the market.
