Google Wallet now allow any card issuing company to add support for their platform

Google has announced that they are now allowing any card company to add support for their cards to the Google Wallet platform.

The company said that this has been made possible because of the recent update of the platform which now support all debit and credit cards.

Google added:

We have always pledged that Google Wallet would be open to all card issuers at no cost. And by moving Google Wallet to the cloud, we have greatly simplified the way that card issuers integrate with it. Issuers no longer need to connect their systems directly to ours. We have completely eliminated the cost and complexity for issuers to offer their customers their cards in a mobile wallet. What was previously an effort that could take many months, cost millions, and require complex orchestration among many parties has been reduced to a few simple steps.

They no longer require direct integration with Google platform. Banks and credit card companies can now use the API to provide an option to their customers to easily add their own cards to the Google Wallet app on their smartphones.
