Honda might discontinue Civic and Accord in Indian market

Honda recently acquired the stake of their joint venture partner in India. The company is now reported to be working on a major strategy change that might result in discontinuation of premium models in the Indian market.

Online reports suggest that the company could discontinue their Accord model in the Indian market. Honda Civic might not get the next update and could eventually face a similar fate.

The Japanese automaker is likely to switch entire focus on budget segment models including hatchbacks.

Honda has been struggling in India in the recent times largely because they do not have any diesel engine offering. They did launch their first budget segment hatch Brio which seems to be selling well. But without a diesel offering they cannot really compete anymore in India.
