Imgur has announced some major changes on their image sharing platform. The company has decided to become a fully functional social network based on image sharing.
The biggest change being introduced is that the famed Imgur Gallery would become the new home page of the service.
And for the first time ever, users can submit their photos directly into gallery for voting. Until now, photos shared on third party sources were introduced in Gallery based on popularity on the web.
This is a major update. Imgur users usually use Reddit to share their creations. It would be interesting to see how this move affect the relationship between the two platforms.
There are tons of other changes which you can check out here.
This new version has not been rolled out to everyone. They are going to release it in batches. It should be out for everyone by the end of the week.
