The Internet Archive now using torrents to offer access to books, music and movies
The Internet Archive has now made available more than 1 million torrent files that can be used to download books, movies and music content hosted by them.
The project team said:
The Internet Archive is now offering over 1,000,000 torrents including our live music concerts, the Prelinger movie collection, the librivox audio book collection, feature films, old time radio, lots and lots of books, and all new uploads from our patrons into Community collections (with more to follow).
Using Bittorrent is a smart move for the foundation as it would help them save money on bandwidth cost. Torrent files would enable users to share the content with other online users as the bandwidth is distributed amongst all the connected nodes.
