Jolla likely to support Android, Qt and HTML5 apps on their MeeGo based devices

Jolla made headlines couple of weeks ago when they announced that they are going to launch smartphones based on the MeeGo platform.

The company is scheduled to launch their first device later this year. And online sources reveal that they are aiming to include an application compatibility layer to support Android and Qt apps.

Jolla’s MeeGo based devices are also likely to support HTML5 applications to ensure that developers have plenty of options to code apps for it.

MeeGo was developed primarily by Nokia as their replacement platform for Symbian. However, the company dropped it and switched to Windows Phone as part of a broad collaboration with Microsoft.

Nokia did launch one MeeGo based device N9 which managed to impress almost everyone around. Nokia used the same hardware design for most of their current generation WP devices.
