Microsoft acquiring Perceptive Pixel for their touchscreen technology

Microsoft has announced that they are acquiring Perceptive Pixel.

Perceptive Pixel deals in high performance multi-touch capable workstations and similar solutions.

They are a good buy for Microsoft because of their Surface technology which is now part of the Windows 8 platform.

Microsoft is going to sell self-branded Surface Tablet PCs. The technology of course can be used on much larger devices with touchscreen user interface.

Microsoft already offers a customized tablet with a touch display at the top under the branding PixelSense.
