Microsoft cut on apps sold through Windows Store range between 20-30%

Microsoft has revealed some more details about their Windows Store which would be part of their Windows 8 operating system.

The company said that developers would be able to price their apps in the range of $1.49 to $999.99.

There is no 99 cent option which is very popular on the Mac App Store and even mobile app stores.

The company would take a 30% cut on these transactions. This drops to 20% once an app has crossed USD 25000 in sales.

Microsoft recommended following strategies to developers for monetizing their apps:

Trial with easy conversion to the full paid version of your app
In app purchases to allow monetization over time
Advertising within your app
Billing through your own existing mechanisms
