Microsoft delivers a mega imagery update to Bing Maps

There have been a couple of rumors about Microsoft replacing Bing Maps with Nokia Maps but looks like it is not going to happen in the near future.

Microsoft has just delivered a mega update of imagery on their Bing Maps platform.

This imagery is mostly related to satellite imagery so users now have access to tons of more visual data on the maps.

The company said that the latest update is around 165TB big. This is larger than what they had on the entire platform until now!

Microsoft spoke about this update:

Today we’re thrilled to announce the publication of our largest satellite release to date. In fact, this release is larger than all of our past Aerial releases combined!

The latest Aerial release includes new Satellite imagery as well as Global Ortho photography. Both releases total 165 terabytes of new data live on Bing Maps. Prior to this, our existing Aerial footprint was 129 terabytes total.
