Microsoft to discontinue Windows Live branding

Microsoft has revealed that they are going to discontinue Windows Live branding in the coming months.

The company said that with changing times, Windows Live is no longer relevant as everything is being moved to the cloud.

Microsoft said:

Windows Live services and apps were built on versions of Windows that were simply not designed to be connected to a cloud service for anything other than updates, and as a result, they felt “bolted on” to the experience.

With Windows 8, Microsoft is already moving to a stage where the OS would be connected to their online accounts pretty much all the time. Users would now connect to their Microsoft account rather than their Windows Live account.
