Microsoft starts adding non-Metro apps to Windows Store

Windows Store would be part of Windows 8 when it launches later this year.

This store would be similar to Mac App Store on OS X and similar software centers in Linux distributions.

Users would be able to purchase and download apps from this store for use on their computers.

Windows Store has been available to users in the public test builds Microsoft has released. But it has until now only offered Metro apps which work on the Metro UI in Windows.

Microsoft has now added first non-Metro app to Windows Store and it is Microsoft Office.

Sadly though, the app is not yet available for purchase from inside Windows Store. Users are sent to their website where different variants of the MS Office suite are listed for purchase. We hope that the company would allow users to purchase the variant of their choice in the future.
