Microsoft did not reveal much about the expected pricing of their Surface branded Tablet PCs.

The company would offer two very different models. One would feature the Windows RT edition that would run Metro apps. The other one would feature the fully functional Windows 8.

Online sources are reporting that the RT edition of Surface is likely to be priced at USD 600 for the base model. Windows 8 edition would bump the price to USD 800.

Microsoft had stated that they are aiming to price the RT edition of Surface around the competing models. The new iPad with retina display starts at USD 500. They would have to match it to make the Surface Tablet competitively priced even though Microsoft does not have the app ecosystem comparable to the Apple App Store.
