Motorola has confirmed that they are shipping ATRIX HD with a locked bootloader to meet the requirements of the carriers.
The company however added that they are going to make available tools to unlock the bootloader of their various models for consumers who want the extra flexibility.
This process is likely to deactivate the warranty on the devices. HTC has a similar program where they officially allow users to unlock their devices in return for cancellation of the warranties.
Motorola ATRIX HD has just launched in the US market at a price of USD 99 with a two year long contract. AT&T is offering it in the US market right now.
