Motorola Mobility shareholders approve Google acquisition deal

Motorola Mobility has revealed that their shareholders have given their approval for the acquisition deal by Google.

The company said that 99% of the shareholders voted in favor of the acquisition deal.

Google recently announced their decision to acquire Motorola Mobility. The deal is worth around USD 12.5 billion which makes it their largest acquisition ever.

Google needs Motorola Mobility for the patents they own that would help them in defending legal challenges from rivals like Apple and Microsoft.

It remains to be seen if they are going to use Motorola Mobility to expand their services into the hardware segment of the market.
