Mozilla Marketplace set to be announced this month?

Mozilla is rumored to be close to announcing their own mobile app store. They are likely to call it Mozilla Marketplace.

Mozilla Marketplace would feature mobile web apps instead of native apps. This would allow them to cater to multiple mobile platforms in one go.

The apps would run inside the browser. Mozilla is also working on their own mobile platform implementation codenamed ‘Boot to Gecko’.

The basic idea behind the project is that the mobile web browser has become powerful enough to act as a user interface for everything.

Mozilla is likely to release more details at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Spain.
