Mozilla working on Firefox Junior browser app for the Apple iPad

Mozilla is developing a browser app for the Apple iPad. This is again expected to be a wrapper for the webkit engine that powers the Safari browser on the iPad. Apple does not allow third party rendering engines on their iOS platform.

The company already has an app for the iPhone powered by webkit rendering engine.

The new app is currently heavy in development and would take a while before it can be released through the Apple App Store.

Mozilla has decided to avoid having tabs in this browser. Instead users would get a + button on the right side of the display to access the address bar. The idea is to focus on the web content removing all the elements of the browser from the user interface.

Users would be able to add more options to the floating icons on the left and right of the display for more functionality.
