TUAW has reported that at least some iPhones in some regions are now getting the alerts from the National Weather Service in the US market.
A member of their team got an update in his area on his iPhone 5 on the Sprint network. His wife did not get the same update on her iPhone 4S on AT&T.
An official announcement is yet to come. Looks like mobile service providers are at least testing this system on the iPhone in some areas in the USA.
